“Pastafarian” Headgear Allowed on Austrian Driver’s License
Austria
A self-confessed Austrian atheist has won the right to be shown on his driving license wearing unusual “religious headgear”—a pasta strainer.

Niko Alm, who says he belongs to the Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster—a light-hearted U.S.-based faith whose members call themselves “pastafarians” and whose beliefs are generally satires of creationism.

Alm applied for the driving license in response to the Austrian recognition of “confessional headgear” in official photographs. The license took three years to come through. Upon receiving the license, Alm was asked to submit to a medical interview to check on his mental fitness to drive.
