Dubai Chief of police accused of racial profiling
Dubai’s chief of police said the Persian Gulf country will not allow those who hold an Israeli passport or have the “physical features” of an Israeli into Dubai. Critics accused him of racial profiling.

Attempting to ferret out Israelis using a second passport, Dubai police Lt. Gen. Dahi Khalfan Tamim said police will use methods that include noting suspected Israeli’s “physical features and the way they speak,” according to latimesblogs.latimes.com

The statement followed allegations that Israeli Mossad agents infiltrated the country to assassinate Hamas figure Mahmoud Mabhouh in February. Tamim has been trying to keep up international pressure on Israel.

In Israel, officials reportedly called the police chief a loose cannon and predicted the government would move to rein him in to avoid damage to tourism and trade, according to latimesblogs.
