Fearsome Predator Unveiled
England
Roughly 185 million years ago, the pliosaur was king of the waters. Today, the largest and most intact fossilized skull of this oceanic predator can be viewed at the Dorset County Museum in England.

The re-creation of the pliosaur, which was recently unveiled for viewing, features a gigantic preserved skull that measures about 7.8 feet in length—making the pliosaur more than 50 feet long. The skull was discovered in the cliffs of England’s Jurassic Coast.

Though the rest of its body has never been found, scientists believe the underwater beast’s body to have been equipped with four paddle-like limbs, making it a “turbo-charged” predator. Dubbed the T-Rex of the ocean, the pliosaur would have had the ability to rip a car in half with its dagger-like teeth.
