First Lady’s childhood obesity campaign shapes up

In February, President Obama signed an executive order creating a national anti-obesity strategy. Michelle Obama is leading the Let’s Move campaign that seeks to end childhood obesity in a generation.

The campaign includes a review of every government obesity program, better food labeling, and $1 billion a year for federal school breakfast and lunch programs for poor children, according to The Atlantic.

Also planned is an advertising campaign, including letsmove.gov.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention created a study that highlights three simple behaviors that curb childhood obesity: eating dinner as a family, sleeping eight hours a night and reducing TV viewing.
