Sweden-based Spotify, which allows users to stream almost any widely released song online for free, made its U.S. debut July 14.
The European version of Spotify has 10 million users, who have the ability to listen to whole albums, individual songs, or organize playlists—which can be shared online with friends. Spotify can also import a person’s existing music library.
A Spotify user can listen to 10 hours of music per month, and five listens per track for free. For $5 a month, those restrictions are lifted, and an individual receives unlimited online streaming. For $10 a month, the music streaming service can be accessed via mobile devices.
